BRIDGES
What is a dental bridge?
A dental bridge is a structure of several artificial teeth that restores spaces with missing teeth. The teeth adjacent to the missing tooth are filed for crowns and carry the missing tooth – they are called bridge bearers.
Types of dental bridges
- Aesthetic - made of cermet, press ceramics, zirconium, photopolymer (composite), semi-aesthetic – cermet blend;
- Non-aesthetic – of metal.
- Adhesive – also called composite or photopolymer bridge. In this type of bridges, the teeth are not filed. The artificial tooth is made of photopolymer and is glued to the neighbouring healthy teeth. This bridge is made under special indications, most often with front teeth, but it can also be made for chewing teeth. It can be made directly in the patient’s mouth or in the dental laboratory.
